Q1 2014 Mortgage Origination

With the release of the first quarter mortgage reports we are seeing a major decrease in mortgage origination.  Housing wire reports a 28% decrease in mortgage origination from Q4 2013 to Q1 2014 for both Wells Fargo and JPMorgan Chase.

Housingwire suggests that higher lending standards (QM), a larger affordibility gap, and investors driving mortgage rates up are responsible for the decrease in mortgage origination.
